# Manage feature requests

> Collect ideas, discuss them, and show customers what you are working on.

Open **Feature requests** for a project. Visitors can read requests and discussions without signing in. Posting, commenting, replying and voting require sign-in.

## Collect and review ideas

1. Open the public board from **View public page** or the project's public address.
2. Choose **Suggest a feature**, enter a title and description, and submit.
3. Open a request to join its discussion or vote.
4. In the dashboard, use search, ordering and the status filter to find requests.

Signing in returns a visitor to the community. They must repeat the intended vote or submit action after signing in.

## Keep statuses current

Only the project owner can change a request's status. The available statuses are **New**, **Work in progress**, **Shipped**, and **Cancelled**. Use **All statuses** to clear the status filter. Clearing search retains the selected status; Clear filters resets both.

## Editing and deleting

Authors can edit or delete their own requests and comments. The project owner can manage content across the community. Being the author of a request does not let someone separately delete other people's comments.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Deleting a request removes its entire discussion, including comments by other
> people. Deleting a comment preserves live replies by other users. Check the
> confirmation before deleting.

## Expected result

Saved requests and status changes appear on the public board. If a visitor cannot participate, check the project's [sign-in method](/sign-in/overview). If a list looks empty, clear its search and filters first.

When you ship an idea, [publish release notes](/community/release-notes) and link to them from the discussion.
